Real-time Support for Diabetes: Unveiling the Magic of Remote Patient Monitoring
Managing many diabetes patients can be challenging. Typically, as a physician, I mainly got to see the last few weeks of data from blood glucose monitors, sensors, or insulin pumps during a patient’s visit every 3-4 months. This means I may miss issues with insulin management, pump settings, or carb ratios.
In our Direct Specialty Care practice, I can now use Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) for diabetes patients using continuous blood glucose monitors or insulin pumps. RPM software collects health data from patients’ devices and securely sends it to me. This allows me to track pump and sensor data daily and keep tabs on when we last reviewed the report.
I can now use Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) for diabetes patients using continuous blood glucose monitors or insulin pumps.
Without a formal appointment, I can now communicate with diabetes patients at least once a month. I can provide feedback on their blood glucose performance and make treatment adjustments if necessary. Patients no longer must wait for their scheduled appointment to improve their outcomes, and I can also offer praise if they are managing their diabetes successfully.
RPM enables us to closely monitor and fine-tune treatment monthly instead of every 3-4 months. Better control means fewer blood glucose fluctuations, fewer highs and lows, ultimately leading to feeling better and reducing the risk of long-term diabetes complications.
This service is available to all diabetes member patients in our Direct Specialty practice. Just link your device to our office, and I will start monitoring immediately. Improved communication leads to better glucose control.
